The NASHUA 557-METALLIC_2X60YD is a premium-grade metallic duct tape designed for sealing, patching, and bundling in HVAC duct systems. The tape measures 2 inches wide by 60 yards long with a 14 mil overall thickness. Construction consists of a polyethylene-coated cloth backing bonded to an aggressive natural rubber adhesive. The PE-coated backing provides high tensile strength to resist the vertical pull load imposed by suspended ductwork. The rubber adhesive delivers a firm, lasting bond to sheet metal, flex duct, and other common duct surfaces. HVAC technicians and sheet metal contractors install this tape as part of duct sealing and insulation wrap work on both new construction and retrofit projects.
This tape is suited for heavy-duty repair, patching, and sealing applications in residential and light commercial HVAC systems. Its conformable backing allows it to wrap around irregular duct shapes and fittings without lifting at the edges. The metallic finish and moisture-resistant construction make it appropriate for exposed duct runs in mechanical rooms, crawl spaces, and attic installations where humidity and temperature swings are common. The low VOC formulation supports projects targeting indoor air quality standards under LEED criteria.
Rated under UL 181B-FX for use on Class 1 flexible air ducts and air connectors. Suitable for sheet metal duct, flex duct, and duct board sealing applications where a UL 181B-FX listed closure system is required by code.
Installation is performed by licensed HVAC technicians or sheet metal workers in accordance with local mechanical codes and SMACNA duct construction standards. Surfaces should be clean, dry, and free of dust or oil before tape application to ensure full adhesive contact. Application temperature range is 40 degrees F to 200 degrees F; avoid applying to surfaces outside this range as adhesion will be compromised. Follow UL 181B-FX listing requirements for overlap and closure sequencing when using this tape as part of a listed duct closure system.
