Product Description

The MULTISET MSMG50 is an economical polymer modified thin-set mortar designed for bonding tile to a wide range of substrates in floor, wall, and countertop applications. Packaged in a 50 lb bag, this mortar bonds vitreous, semi-vitreous, and absorptive tile types including ceramic, mosaic, quarry, cement, porcelain, brick, mini-brick, precast terrazzo, and natural stone. It meets ANSI A118.4 as supplied and meets ANSI A118.11 when used with a Thin-Set Mortar Admix. Coverage runs approximately 80 to 90 square feet per 50 lb bag when applied with a 1/4 x 1/4 x 1/4 inch square-notch trowel. Licensed tile setters and flooring installers are the primary trade users of this product.

This mortar is suited for residential and light commercial tile installations. Compatible substrates include concrete mortar beds, masonry, Portland cement plaster, Wonderboard cement backerboards, gypsum wallboard in dry areas, and existing ceramic tile. It is not approved for direct bonding to hardwood, luan plywood, particle board, parquet, cushion or sponge-back vinyl flooring, metal, fiberglass, plastic, or OSB panels. Pot life is 2 hours. Allow a minimum 24-hour cure before grouting or light foot traffic, with actual cure time varying by ambient temperature and humidity conditions.

Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a licensed tile setter or qualified flooring professional in accordance with applicable industry standards and manufacturer guidelines. Ensure all substrates are clean, flat, structurally sound, and free of dust, grease, and curing compounds before mixing or applying mortar. Mix only as much material as can be used within the 2-hour pot life, and do not retemper mortar after it has begun to set. Allow a full 24-hour cure prior to grouting or light traffic; extend cure time in cool or humid conditions.
