Product Description

The MULTI-FITTINGS CORPORATION 340342 is a 4-inch PVC SDR 35 hub-by-spigot adapter designed for gravity-flow drainage and sewer piping systems. Manufactured to ASTM D-3034 standards, this adapter transitions between hub and spigot connections using solvent-weld joinery that produces a leak-proof, root-resistant seal when properly installed. The PVC construction provides strong chemical resistance against acids, alkalis, and diluted hydrocarbons, and the fitting handles aggressive soil conditions including sulfates, carbonates, industrial effluents, and acid rain without degradation. Rated to a maximum service temperature of 140 degrees F, it suits a wide range of residential and light commercial below-grade applications. Licensed plumbers and sewer contractors are the primary installers of this fitting.

This adapter is used in below-grade sanitary sewer and storm drainage piping where a spigot-end pipe or fitting must connect into a hub-end fitting, or vice versa. Typical installations include mainline sewer lateral runs, cleanout configurations, and tie-in points within trench-laid PVC gravity systems. The SDR 35 wall dimension is standard for 4-inch sewer service lines across residential and light commercial construction. Its high abrasion resistance makes it a reliable choice in high-velocity storm sewer applications where transported effluent may carry particulate matter. Both CSA B182.1 and CSA B182.2 certification, plus IAPMO listing, support use in jurisdictions requiring listed fittings for sewer installations.

Key Features

  • ASTM D-3034 compliant PVC SDR 35 construction for standard gravity sewer service
  • Solvent-weld hub-by-spigot configuration creates a leak-proof joint that eliminates underground infiltration and exfiltration
  • Exceptional chemical resistance to acids, alkalis, sulfates, carbonates, and diluted hydrocarbons
  • Highly resistant to abrasion, suitable for high-velocity storm sewer and abrasive effluent transport
  • CSA B182.1, CSA B182.2 certified and IAPMO listed for code-compliant installations
  • Maximum service temperature of 140 degrees F

Compatibility

Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard component for 4-inch PVC SDR 35 gravity sewer and drainage piping systems conforming to ASTM D-3034.

Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and applicable IPC or regional sewer system standards. Clean and deburr all pipe ends, then apply the appropriate PVC solvent cement primer and cement to both the spigot and hub surfaces before joining. Allow adequate cure time before backfilling the trench, following the cement manufacturer's published schedule for the ambient temperature at the time of installation. Do not use mechanical force to correct misaligned joints after the solvent cement has been applied.
