The MUELLER STREAMLINE FTG00857 is a wrot copper reducing fitting designed for sweat-solder plumbing connections. It transitions from a 1-1/8 inch female solder (FTG) socket on one end to a 3/4 inch male solder (C) fitting on the other, making it well suited for reducing copper line sets in residential and light commercial plumbing and HVAC refrigerant piping systems. Wrot copper construction provides the material integrity and workability that licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians expect from a production-grade fitting. This fitting ships in a minimum quantity of 10 units per order.
This reducer is used wherever a copper piping run steps down from 1-1/8 inch tubing to 3/4 inch tubing. Common applications include domestic water distribution, hydronic heating supply and return lines, and refrigerant line set transitions. The female FTG socket end accepts the outside diameter of copper tube directly, while the male C end inserts into a standard 3/4 inch sweat fitting. It is installed by licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians using standard torch-and-solder methods in accordance with applicable plumbing and mechanical codes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and production fitting for wrot copper sweat-solder piping systems requiring a 1-1/8 inch FTG to 3/4 inch C reduction.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or HVAC technician familiar with copper sweat-soldering practices. Shut off and depressurize the water or refrigerant system and drain all lines before cutting or joining. Clean all mating surfaces with emery cloth and apply appropriate flux before soldering; use lead-free solder where required by local plumbing code. Allow the joint to cool completely before restoring pressure and inspecting for leaks.
