The MUELLER STREAMLINE ELL00888 is a wrot copper 90-degree street elbow designed for soldered copper piping systems in residential and light commercial plumbing and HVAC applications. The long-radius, street-pattern design features a fitting-by-copper (FTG x C) connection, allowing it to mate directly into the socket of another fitting without requiring an additional coupling. With a 1/2 x 1/2 inch connection size and wrought copper construction, this elbow provides a reliable, leak-resistant joint when properly brazed or soldered per standard plumbing practice.
This elbow is used wherever a 90-degree change of direction is required in a 1/2 inch copper line. Common installations include domestic water supply, hydronic heating lines, refrigerant piping secondary circuits, and general plumbing rough-in work. The FTG x C configuration is particularly useful when transitioning out of a valve body or another fitting socket, reducing the total number of joints in a run. Licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians are the primary installers.
Designed as an OEM-style drop-in replacement and general-use fitting for 1/2 inch wrot copper soldered piping systems following ASTM B16.22 or equivalent standards.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified HVAC technician in accordance with local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off and depressurize the water or refrigerant line and drain all moisture from the pipe before soldering. Clean both the pipe end and fitting socket with emery cloth and apply flux before heating; overheating wrot copper fittings can damage the fitting or cause poor joint integrity. Do not apply mechanical stress to the joint until the solder has fully cooled.
