The MUELLER STREAMLINE CPL00461 is a wrot copper reducing coupling designed for sweat (solder) connections in residential and light commercial plumbing and HVAC refrigerant piping systems. It transitions from a 3/4-inch copper tube to a 1/2-inch copper tube using a C x C (copper-to-copper) connection on both ends. The fitting is manufactured from wrot copper, which provides superior grain structure, pressure rating, and corrosion resistance compared to cast fittings. At 0.04 pounds, it is a compact, lightweight fitting suited for tight installations. Plumbers and HVAC technicians install this fitting where a pipe reduction is required inline without a threaded or press connection.
This reducing coupling is used in potable water supply lines, hydronic heating systems, refrigerant piping, and general copper tube distribution systems. The 3/4 C x 1/2 C configuration is one of the most common reduction sizes encountered in residential rough-in and retrofit work. The fitting is appropriate for both new construction and repair scenarios where an inline size change in copper tubing is required. Its compliance with ASME and NSF standards makes it suitable for drinking water applications as well as mechanical systems.
Designed as an OEM-style sweat fitting for use with standard 3/4-inch and 1/2-inch copper tubing in plumbing and HVAC applications where a C x C reducing connection is required.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or HVAC technicians using standard solder or brazing techniques per applicable IPC and IFGC codes. Shut off and depressurize the water or refrigerant system and allow all piping to cool completely before cutting and fitting. Clean and flux both tube ends and the fitting sockets thoroughly before applying heat. Do not overheat wrot copper fittings, as excessive temperature can damage the solder joint and fitting integrity.
