The MUELLER STREAMLINE COTRED331 is a copper reducing tee fitting designed for use in residential and commercial plumbing, HVAC hydronic, and mechanical piping systems. It provides a three-way branch connection with a reduced branch outlet, allowing a smaller secondary line to tap off a main run without requiring additional adapters. The fitting is manufactured from copper, which offers reliable corrosion resistance and long service life in both hot and cold water applications. Licensed plumbers and mechanical contractors install this type of fitting during new construction and retrofit work.
This reducing tee is suited for potable water distribution, hydronic heating loops, and general mechanical piping where a 3-inch main run requires a 1-inch branch takeoff. The fitting is compatible with standard sweat soldering assembly using clean copper tube ends and appropriate flux and solder. It is commonly used where branch circuits supply fixtures, zone lines, or secondary equipment from a larger main.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for copper sweat piping systems using standard Type K, Type L, or Type M copper tube in matching nominal sizes.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing code and IPC guidelines. Shut off and depressurize the water system fully before cutting into any existing line. Tube ends must be cut square, deburred, and cleaned with emery cloth before applying flux and soldering. Avoid overheating the fitting during soldering, as excessive heat can damage the joint integrity.
