The MUELLER STREAMLINE COADFTGFIP2 is a 2-inch copper female adapter with a fitting (Ftg) solder end on one side and a female iron pipe (FIP) threaded connection on the other. This adapter transitions a copper sweat system to a female NPT threaded joint, allowing a plumber to connect copper tubing runs to threaded pipe, valves, or fixtures. It is a standard component in residential and light commercial plumbing systems where copper distribution lines meet threaded iron or brass fittings. The Ftg end accepts the outside diameter of copper tubing for soldering, while the FIP end accepts a male-threaded fitting or nipple.
This adapter is used wherever a copper sweat line needs to terminate or connect at a female threaded point. Common applications include water distribution systems, hot and cold supply lines, boiler connections, and mechanical room piping. The 2-inch size suits main distribution runs, commercial water service entries, and larger residential systems. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in both new construction and retrofit applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use fitting for 2-inch copper sweat plumbing systems that transition to female NPT threaded connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and fully depressurize and drain the line before soldering or threading. Clean and flux the copper Ftg end properly before applying lead-free solder, and ensure the FIP threads are wrapped with thread seal tape or pipe dope before assembling the threaded joint. Do not apply torch heat to the fitting after the threaded component is already assembled.
