The MUELLER STREAMLINE BUS00014 is a copper reducer fitting configured in a FTG (fitting) x C (sweat) end pattern. It transitions a 2-inch copper line down to a 1-1/2-inch copper line, making it a standard component in residential and light commercial plumbing and hydronic systems. The fitting is machined from copper stock, measuring 4.25 inches in actual length with outer diameters of 2-1/8 inches and 1-5/8 inches at the respective ends. Plumbers and pipefitters use this style of reducer when downsizing supply runs, branch connections, or return lines without the need for additional adapters.
This reducer is suited for sweat-soldered copper piping installations in domestic water supply, hydronic heating, and general plumbing rough-in work. The FTG x C configuration means the larger end slips over an existing fitting hub, while the smaller end accepts standard copper tubing directly. This allows inline reductions within a run without adding extra coupling length to the assembly.
Designed as an OEM-style sweat-solder reducer for copper plumbing systems using standard 2-inch and 1-1/2-inch Type L or Type M copper tubing per ASTM and ASME sizing conventions.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters using standard sweat-soldering tools including a torch, flux, and lead-free solder compliant with applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC. Shut off and drain the water supply fully before cutting into an existing line. Clean both the fitting socket and the tube end with emery cloth and apply flux evenly before heating. Do not overheat the fitting, as excessive heat can burn flux and compromise joint integrity.
