The MUELLER STREAMLINE 5882 is a 3-inch PVC DWV street 90-degree elbow designed for drain, waste, and vent piping systems. It features a spigot-by-hub end connection, allowing the spigot end to insert directly into a standard hub fitting without an additional coupling. The fitting is manufactured from PVC material conforming to ASTM D2665, F1498, D331, and D1784 material specifications. Smooth interior walls reduce scaling and support consistent flow. The fitting meets NSF 14 and UPC standards, confirming dimensional accuracy and material suitability for DWV service. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting in residential and light commercial drain and vent configurations.
This elbow is suited for 90-degree directional changes in 3-inch DWV piping installations. Typical applications include sanitary drain lines, vent stacks, and waste piping in both industrial and residential settings where chemical and corrosion resistance is required. The street configuration eliminates one fitting joint compared to a standard elbow-plus-adapter combination, simplifying the transition at close-quarters connections. It is appropriate for use in gravity-flow drainage, waste, and vent systems where PVC is an accepted material under the applicable plumbing code.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for 3-inch PVC DWV piping systems used in drain, waste, vent, sanitary, and chemical-resistant piping applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the applicable local plumbing code, IPC, or UPC requirements. Shut off water supply and ensure the system is depressurized and drained before cutting into an existing line. Use approved PVC solvent cement and primer rated for DWV service when making hub connections. Do not apply heat to seat the fitting; solvent welding is the correct joining method for this material.
