The MUELLER STREAMLINE 583-025 is a Schedule 40 black steel pipe nipple designed for use in plumbing, gas, steam, OEM, and oil distribution systems. It features male threaded connections on both ends and is manufactured to ANSI/ASME B1.20.1 standards with steel conforming to ASTM A733/A53. The welded construction and black finish provide durability across a range of moderate- to high-demand piping applications. Each unit is 100 percent inspected and quality tested before leaving the factory. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this nipple type as a standard close-coupled connector between fittings, valves, and pipe runs wherever a short extension is required.
This nipple is suited for residential and commercial piping installations including natural gas supply lines, steam distribution, hydraulic oil systems, and general plumbing rough-in work. The 0.5 inch nominal diameter and 2.5 inch overall length make it a common specification for tight-clearance installations where a standard nipple fills the gap between two threaded fittings or a valve and a fitting. NAFTA compliance supports use in North American commercial and OEM procurement contexts.
Designed as a standard Schedule 40 black steel pipe nipple for use in 0.5 inch NPT threaded piping systems across plumbing, gas, steam, OEM, and oil service applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes, the International Plumbing Code (IPC), or the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) depending on service type. Shut off the gas or water supply and depressurize the system fully before removing or installing any threaded nipple. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the intended service medium before making up connections. Do not over-tighten threaded connections, as this can crack fittings or distort threads.
