The MUELLER STREAMLINE 436-012 is a 1-1/4 inch PVC Schedule 40 socket by male threaded adapter designed for drain, waste, and vent (DWV) piping systems. It transitions from a hub (socket) connection on one end to a male threaded connection on the other, making it a standard fitting for joining PVC DWV pipe to threaded fittings or threaded equipment ports. The PVC construction provides strong resistance to chemicals and corrosion, while smooth interior walls minimize scaling and promote unrestricted flow. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in residential and light commercial drain and waste systems.
This adapter is suited for DWV applications in residential and commercial construction, including drain lines, waste stacks, and vent piping where a hub-to-male-thread transition is required. It is also appropriate for chemical drainage systems where PVC material compatibility is required. The fitting meets NSF 14 and UPC standards and conforms to ASTM D2665, F1498, D331, and D1784 material and dimensional specifications, ensuring consistent fit and dimensional integrity throughout installation.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitting for 1-1/4 inch PVC Schedule 40 DWV piping systems requiring a hub-to-male-thread adapter transition.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and verify the system is depressurized before working on any drain or supply line connections. Clean and dry all mating surfaces before applying PVC solvent cement to the socket end; allow full cure time per the cement manufacturer instructions before returning the line to service. Do not over-torque the male threaded end when connecting to female-threaded fittings, as PVC threads can crack under excessive force.
