The MUELLER INDUSTRIES W1306 is a reducing bushing designed to connect pipes or fittings of two different sizes within plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical piping systems. It steps down from a 3/8-inch female thread to a 1/4-inch male thread, allowing technicians to adapt standard fittings without custom fabrication. This type of bushing is a common component in service and repair work where line sizes change within a run. Licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, and pipefitters install this fitting as part of routine system assembly or retrofit work.
This reducing bushing is suited for residential and light commercial applications where threaded connections are used in refrigerant piping, compressed air lines, water supply lines, or similar mechanical systems. It is typically installed in tight spaces where a compact threaded adapter is preferred over a full coupling and nipple combination. The 3/8-inch to 1/4-inch size reduction is a frequently needed step-down in service valve, gauge port, and instrumentation connection work.
Designed as a standard threaded reducing bushing for use in residential and light commercial plumbing and mechanical piping systems wherever a 3/8-inch to 1/4-inch thread reduction is required.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or HVAC technicians using appropriate pipe wrenches or fitting tools. Shut off and depressurize the system before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply thread sealant or PTFE tape as required by local code and manufacturer guidance. Follow applicable IPC or IFGC requirements for the system type being serviced.
