The MUELLER INDUSTRIES W 04006 is a wrot copper pipe tee designed for soldered pressure piping systems in residential and light commercial plumbing and HVAC applications. Configured as a full C x C x C (copper-to-copper-to-copper) solder joint fitting, it connects three lengths of copper tubing at a branch point without the need for threaded or mechanical fastening. The fitting size is 1/2 inch with an outside diameter of 5/8 inches. Wrot copper construction provides superior grain structure compared to cast fittings, resulting in stronger, more consistent solder joints under pressure and temperature cycling. Licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians rely on this type of fitting for distribution lines, branch takeoffs, and service connections.
This tee is suited for 1/2 inch copper tubing runs in domestic hot and cold water supply, hydronic heating, refrigeration piping, and general HVAC copper pipework. The solder joint end connections accept standard 1/2 inch copper tube and are prepared for capillary soldering or brazing per standard trade practice. Sold individually; minimum order quantity is 5 units per order. The fitting meets multiple ASME and NSF dimensional and material standards, making it appropriate for potable water and pressure system installations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1/2 inch copper tube systems using capillary solder or braze joints per standard plumbing and HVAC piping practice.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or HVAC pipefitter. Shut off and depressurize the water or refrigerant circuit and drain the line fully before cutting in a tee. Clean all mating tube ends and fitting sockets with emery cloth or a fitting brush, apply flux, and solder or braze per applicable code requirements including IPC and IFGC guidelines. Do not apply heat to a fitting that still contains standing water, as steam pressure can prevent proper solder flow and compromise joint integrity.
