The MUELLER INDUSTRIES W 04002 is a wrot copper reducing tee fitting designed for sweat-solder copper piping systems. It connects three copper pipe runs in a tee configuration with a 3/8 inch by 3/8 inch run and a 1/4 inch branch outlet. All three ends are C-type (cup) connections joined by solder, making this a standard sweat-fit component. Plumbers and HVAC technicians install this fitting in refrigeration lines, water distribution, and instrumentation tubing where a reliable, leak-free branch connection is required. Outside diameters measure 1/2 inch on the run ends and 3/8 inch on the branch end.
This fitting is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing and HVAC applications where small-diameter copper branch connections are needed. Typical installations include refrigerant line sets, domestic water supply lines, and pneumatic or instrumentation copper piping. This fitting is installed by licensed plumbers or HVAC technicians using a propane or MAP gas torch, pipe cutter, emery cloth, and lead-free solder with flux. Shut off and drain the water or refrigerant supply before cutting into an existing line. Clean all mating surfaces thoroughly before fluxing and sweating the joint. Refer to applicable local plumbing code, IFGC, or IPC requirements for solder alloy selection, particularly in potable water systems.
