The MUELLER INDUSTRIES W-01036 is a wrot copper reducing coupling designed to connect 3/4-inch copper pipe to 1/2-inch copper pipe using a sweat solder joint. Wrot copper fittings are manufactured from wrought copper, which offers a denser grain structure and greater pressure integrity compared to cast fittings. The C x C (copper by copper) configuration accepts standard copper tubing on both ends, making this a straightforward reducer for branch line reductions, supply line transitions, and rerouting work in plumbing and HVAC systems. Licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians use this fitting wherever a permanent, pressure-rated reduction is needed between two tubing sizes.
This reducing coupling is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing systems, hydronic heating piping, and refrigeration line sets where a 3/4-inch to 1/2-inch reduction is required. It is commonly installed during new construction rough-in, remodel work, and service repairs. The solder joint connection method follows standard sweat fitting practice and is compatible with lead-free solder as required by current plumbing codes for potable water applications.
Designed as an OEM-style sweat fitting replacement for standard 3/4-inch x 1/2-inch copper-to-copper reducing applications in residential and commercial plumbing and HVAC piping systems.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or HVAC technician. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before cutting into any existing line. Clean both the pipe ends and fitting sockets thoroughly with emery cloth and apply flux before soldering. Work must comply with applicable local plumbing codes, which typically reference ASME B16.22 standards for wrought copper fittings.
