The MUELLER INDUSTRIES W 01017 is a wrot copper pipe coupling designed for 3/8 inch copper pipe connections using a C x C (copper-to-copper) solder joint. Wrot copper construction means the fitting is formed from wrought copper stock, producing a dense, uniform grain structure that holds up under repeated thermal cycling and pressure. This coupling is a straight, full-length fitting used to join two sections of copper tubing in a continuous run. It is installed by licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians in potable water, hydronic heating, refrigeration piping, and general mechanical systems where a permanent soldered connection is required.
This coupling is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing and HVAC applications wherever 3/8 inch copper tubing is used. Common install scenarios include domestic water supply lines, chilled water branch lines, and refrigerant piping repairs. The C x C end configuration accepts standard copper tubing on both ends, making it a straightforward replacement or repair fitting for existing copper systems.

Installation requires a licensed plumber or qualified HVAC technician in most jurisdictions. Before soldering, shut off and depressurize the supply line and drain any standing water from the pipe. Clean both the tube ends and fitting cups with emery cloth and apply flux before heating; follow applicable IPC and IFGC guidelines for solder type and joint preparation. Do not apply heat directly to the fitting cup for longer than necessary, as overheating can damage the flux and compromise the joint.
