The MUELLER INDUSTRIES MUE-W02980NL is a two-piece, wrot copper companion flange fitting designed for 2-inch copper pipe systems using a cup-end solder or braze connection on one side and a flange connection on the other. The wrot copper sleeve integrates into the piping assembly the same way standard wrot copper fittings do, keeping installation familiar for experienced plumbers. An EPDM insulator provides full electrolysis protection suitable for both above-ground and below-ground installations. The epoxy-coated steel backing ring adjusts for alignment and resists corrosion and deflection at the flange joint. At 5.90 pounds, this fitting is built for long-term service in demanding plumbing installations.
This companion flange is suited for residential and commercial plumbing systems where copper pipe must transition to a flanged connection, such as at pump tie-ins, equipment connections, or service shutoff points. The two-piece design simplifies field installation by allowing the copper sleeve to be soldered or brazed to the pipe run before the backing ring and flange are assembled, reducing the need to work in tight quarters with a fully assembled fitting. It is installed by licensed plumbers on both new construction and retrofit projects.
Designed as an OEM-style companion flange replacement or new-install fitting for 2-inch copper pipe systems requiring a C x flange transition at 125/150 lb rated connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off and depressurize the water system before cutting into the existing pipe. Solder or braze the copper sleeve end using standard wrot copper joining procedures before assembling the backing ring and flange hardware. Do not over-torque flange bolts, and verify flange face alignment before final tightening to avoid stressing the joint.
