The MUELLER INDUSTRIES MH12010 is a Type M copper water tube designed for residential and light commercial plumbing and hydronic distribution systems. Manufactured from Grade C12200 phosphorus-deoxidized copper, this tube measures 1-3/8 inches outside diameter with a 1.291 inch inside diameter and a 0.042 inch wall thickness. The 10-foot straight length is standard for distribution runs and branch connections in potable water supply lines. Plumbers and pipefitters install this tube using standard soldering, brazing, or press-fit methods. At 0.682 pounds per foot, the full 10-foot stick weighs approximately 6.82 pounds.
Type M copper tube is the standard choice for domestic water distribution in residential construction and light commercial plumbing. The 1-3/8 inch OD corresponds to a 1-1/4 inch nominal pipe size, making it appropriate for main distribution lines, risers, and larger branch runs where flow capacity matters. This size is commonly used in multi-fixture supply lines, boiler feed lines, and hydronic heating loops. Licensed plumbers typically specify Type M for above-ground interior applications where the thinner wall is acceptable under local code.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-stock copper water tube compatible with 1-1/4 inch nominal Type M copper fittings, including sweat, press-fit, and flare end connections conforming to ASTM B88 Type M specifications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code and applicable local codes. Shut off and drain the water supply before cutting into an existing line. Use a pipe cutter sized for copper tube and deburr the cut end thoroughly before soldering or pressing. Support spacing for 1-1/4 inch copper horizontal runs should follow code requirements — consult the IPC or local authority for required hanger intervals.
