Manufactured from Grade C12200 phosphorus deoxidized copper, it measures 7/8 inches OD with a 0.750 inch ID and a 0.065 inch wall thickness in a 5-foot straight length. Type K carries the heaviest wall of the standard copper tube series, making it the preferred choice where maximum pressure ratings or buried underground service are required. Weighing 0.641 pounds per foot, this tube meets ASTM B88 and NSF 61G standards, confirming suitability for drinking water contact. Licensed plumbers and mechanical contractors are the primary installers of this product.
This tube is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing installations, including domestic hot and cold water distribution, radiant and hydronic heating loops, and underground or direct-burial water service lines where Type K wall thickness is specified or required by local code. The 5-foot straight length is common in retrofit and repair work where full 20-foot sticks are unnecessary. Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code and applicable local codes. Shut off and drain the water supply before cutting into any existing line. Use a sharp tubing cutter to achieve a clean, square cut, and ream the cut end fully before soldering or brazing to remove burrs that restrict flow. Do not use open-flame torch work near combustible materials without proper shielding, and verify joint integrity before restoring pressure.
