The MUELLER INDUSTRIES BDNA-15731 is a wrot copper pipe coupling designed for sweat-soldered copper tube connections in residential and commercial plumbing and HVAC systems. Sized at 1/4 inch with a cup-by-cup (C x C) end connection, this coupling joins two lengths of copper tubing in a straight run without reducing flow diameter. Wrot copper construction provides high-pressure integrity and superior solderability compared to cast fittings. The compact profile suits tight-space applications common in refrigeration lines, domestic water supply, and hydronic heating systems. Licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians are the primary installers.
This coupling is suited for 1/4 inch copper tube in low-pressure and high-pressure applications including ACR refrigerant lines, potable water distribution, and radiant heating loops. The C x C configuration requires a standard sweat-solder joint on both ends. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces, making it appropriate for service truck stock or small-batch repair work. No threaded or press-style adapters are needed when mating to standard 1/4 inch copper tube.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-use fitting compatible with standard 1/4 inch nominal copper tube in sweat-solder applications across plumbing and HVAC refrigerant line installations.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or HVAC technicians using a tubing cutter, deburring tool, flux, and lead-free solder in compliance with applicable IPC and local plumbing codes. Cut tube ends must be deburred and cleaned, and appropriate flux applied before heating to ensure a full, void-free solder joint. Shut off and depressurize the system and drain standing water from the line before cutting into existing copper pipe. Do not use open-flame soldering near combustible materials without appropriate shielding in place.
