The MUELLER INDUSTRIES BDNA-15720 is a wrot copper pipe cap designed to terminate 5/8-inch copper tubing using a sweat (solder) end connection. Wrot copper construction delivers consistent wall thickness and high purity, making it suitable for pressure applications in potable water, hydronic heating, and refrigeration piping systems. The cap accepts standard 5/8-inch C (sweat) tubing and has an outside diameter of 3/4 inch. This fitting is a standard-stock plumbing component installed by licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, and refrigeration mechanics wherever a copper line end must be capped and sealed permanently.
This cap is used in residential and light commercial plumbing and HVAC applications to dead-end copper tubing runs. Common install scenarios include capping unused branch outlets, sealing off decommissioned lines, and pressure-testing segments of a copper piping system. It is suited for any situation requiring a reliable, solder-joint termination on 5/8-inch OD copper tubing.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-stock fitting for 5/8-inch copper tubing systems using sweat end connections in residential and commercial plumbing and HVAC piping.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or HVAC technician using standard soldering tools including a torch, flux, and lead-free solder per local code requirements and ASTM B32 standards. Shut off and depressurize the affected water or refrigerant line and allow the pipe to cool completely before soldering. Do not apply heat to a pressurized or wet line. All potable water installations must use lead-free solder and flux in accordance with the International Plumbing Code.
