Wrot copper construction means the fitting is formed from wrought copper stock, giving it a uniform grain structure and consistent wall thickness suited to pressure applications. This adapter is a standard component in copper piping systems used for potable water supply, hydronic heating, and refrigeration line sets. Licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians install this fitting using standard sweat-soldering technique with lead-free solder per applicable code requirements.
This adapter is used in residential and light commercial plumbing and mechanical systems wherever a direct pipe-end-to-female-socket transition is needed within a 1/2-inch copper line. The FTG end accepts a copper pipe or fitting cup of the same nominal size, while the F end receives a standard 1/2-inch copper pipe. Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or qualified HVAC technician using standard sweat-soldering tools including a torch, flux, and lead-free solder as required by the Safe Drinking Water Act for potable systems and applicable local plumbing codes. Shut off and depressurize the water or fluid system completely before cutting into any existing line. Clean all mating surfaces with emery cloth or fitting brush and apply flux before heating to ensure a leak-free joint. Do not overheat the fitting, as excessive heat can burn off flux and result in a void in the solder joint.
