The MUELLER INDUSTRIES BD-15888 is a wrot copper reducing tee fitting designed for use in copper piping systems where a branch connection requires a smaller diameter outlet. Sized at 1 inch by 1 inch by 1/2 inch with a C x C x C (sweat) end connection on all three ports, this fitting allows a 1-inch main run to continue uninterrupted while tapping off a 1/2-inch branch line. Wrot copper construction provides a dense, refined grain structure that resists corrosion and handles the pressure demands of potable water and hydronic systems. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in both residential and light commercial applications.
This reducing tee is suited for potable water distribution, hydronic heating, and refrigeration piping systems where a branch reduction from 1 inch to 1/2 inch is required. The sweat-solder end connections are compatible with standard copper tubing and require no specialized tooling beyond a pipe cutter, deburring tool, flux, and a torch. It is sold in a package quantity of two units, making it practical to keep spares on hand for service calls or multi-connection rough-in work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for copper piping systems using standard C x C x C sweat connections in 1 inch by 1 inch by 1/2 inch configurations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and the IPC. Shut off and depressurize the water supply and purge the line of moisture before soldering, as moisture will prevent a proper joint. Clean all mating surfaces with emery cloth and apply an appropriate lead-free flux before heating. Do not overheat the fitting, as excessive heat can damage the copper or burn off flux before solder flows.
