The MUELLER INDUSTRIES BD-15883 is a wrot copper reducing tee designed for use in copper pressure piping systems. It joins two 3/4-inch run connections to a 1/2-inch branch outlet using a sweat (CxCxC) end connection on all three ports. Wrot copper fittings are manufactured from wrought copper, which produces a denser, stronger fitting body than cast alternatives. This fitting is installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters in potable water distribution, hydronic heating, and general copper piping applications. Its compact form and standard sweat connection make it a reliable, code-compliant choice for reducing branch takeoffs in both new construction and retrofit work.
This reducing tee is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing installations where a 3/4-inch main line requires a 1/2-inch branch connection. Typical applications include domestic hot and cold water supply lines, hydronic baseboard heating loops, and in-wall or under-slab copper distribution systems. The sweat connection style is compatible with standard copper tubing and requires soldering with appropriate flux and lead-free solder per applicable plumbing codes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for standard copper pressure tubing systems using 3/4-inch and 1/2-inch nominal sweat connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the applicable International Plumbing Code (IPC) or local equivalent. Shut off and drain the water supply before cutting into any existing line. Clean all tube ends and fitting sockets with emery cloth and apply lead-free flux before soldering. Do not apply heat directly to the fitting socket interior, and allow the joint to cool fully before restoring pressure.
