The MUELLER INDUSTRIES 586-240 is a threaded black iron pipe nipple sized at 1.25 inches in diameter and 24 inches in length. Black iron pipe is a standard material for natural gas and propane supply lines in residential and commercial applications. The steel construction provides the durability and pressure ratings required for gas distribution systems. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of pipe when assembling or extending gas supply lines, connecting appliances, or building out piping systems where galvanized or plastic pipe is not appropriate.
