The MUELLER INDUSTRIES 40680350b3b6 is a mini split line set configured with flare fittings on both the liquid and suction lines. It uses C12200 phosphorus deoxidized copper tubing, which is the standard alloy for refrigerant-grade line sets. The liquid line measures 1/4 inch and the suction line measures 3/8 inch. Both lines come fully insulated with black elastomeric insulation at a 3/8 inch wall thickness. This line set is built to ASTM B1003 standards and rated to 700 psi per UL requirements. Licensed HVAC technicians install this type of line set when connecting a ductless mini split indoor air handler to its outdoor condensing unit.
This line set is suited for residential and light commercial ductless mini split installations. The flare fitting ends on both lines allow for a leak-resistant mechanical connection without soldering, which is common in mini split applications where field brazing is not practical or preferred. The elastomeric insulation on both lines reduces heat gain on the suction line and protects the liquid line in exposed or semi-exposed routing conditions. This configuration is widely used in new construction and retrofit installations where a clean, pre-insulated, pre-terminated line set speeds up the rough-in process.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation line set for ductless mini split systems requiring a 1/4 inch liquid line and 3/8 inch suction line with flare fitting terminations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with applicable mechanical codes and the equipment manufacturer's instructions. Recover or isolate any refrigerant before disconnecting an existing line set. When making flare connections, use a calibrated flare tool and inspect each flare seat before torquing fittings to the equipment manufacturer's specification. Insulation joints and penetrations should be sealed to prevent condensation and protect insulation from UV degradation in outdoor runs.
