The MUELLER INDUSTRIES 3377 is a 1-1/2 inch ABS DWV trap adapter designed for drain, waste, and vent piping systems in residential and commercial construction. This fitting transitions from a hub-style plastic connection on one end to a slip joint outlet on the other, allowing trap arms to be connected and disconnected without cutting pipe. The body is molded from ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene), a black thermoplastic that resists impact and chemical exposure typical of drain line service. A slip joint nut and washer are included, enabling hand-tight assembly and straightforward disassembly during trap service or replacement. Licensed plumbers and experienced DIYers install this fitting in gravity-fed, non-pressurized drain lines.
This adapter is suited for under-sink and lavatory trap installations where a plastic hub inlet meets a tubular slip joint trap arm. It is compatible with ASTM D2661-compliant ABS DWV piping systems and is appropriate for gravity-flow drain configurations in both residential bathrooms and kitchens and light commercial restroom applications. The slip joint end accepts standard 1-1/2 inch tubular trap arms commonly found in P-trap assemblies beneath sinks and lavatories.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1-1/2 inch ABS DWV drain systems conforming to ASTM D2661, including standard residential and light commercial P-trap assemblies under sinks and lavatories.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or qualified tradesperson following applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and clear the trap of standing water before beginning work. The hub end is solvent-welded to the ABS drain stub-out using ABS cement; the slip joint end is hand-tightened with the included nut and washer and does not require pipe wrench force. Inspect the slip joint washer for damage during any service and replace it if deformed or cracked to maintain a leak-free seal.
