The MUELLER INDUSTRIES 2885 is a molded ABS DWV 45-degree elbow designed for non-pressurized sanitary drainage and vent piping systems. The 45-degree angle allows for gradual directional changes in horizontal or vertical pipe runs, reducing turbulence and minimizing clog risk compared to sharper-bend fittings. Manufactured from ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene), the fitting delivers solid rigidity and impact resistance in above-ground drain, waste, and vent assemblies. Both end connections are 1-1/2 inch plastic socket, accepting standard ABS pipe with solvent-cement joining. Dimensions measure 3.25 inches in length, 2.13 inches in width, and 3.88 inches in height. Licensed plumbers and experienced pipefitters handle installation in residential and commercial DWV systems.
This elbow is suited for above-ground residential and light commercial drain, waste, and vent applications where a 45-degree offset is needed to route piping around framing, transition between vertical stacks and horizontal branches, or make gradual directional changes in sanitary drain lines. The plastic-to-plastic socket ends allow straightforward integration into existing ABS DWV piping runs using standard solvent cement. It is not rated for pressurized service or below-ground burial in applications outside its published material ratings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1-1/2 inch ABS DWV piping systems in residential and commercial above-ground drain, waste, and vent applications.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) or applicable local plumbing code. Shut off water supply and ensure the drain system is depressurized and clear before cutting into an existing line. Clean pipe ends and fitting sockets thoroughly before applying ABS solvent cement; follow cement manufacturer's cure time before restoring flow. Do not use this fitting in pressurized systems or with PVC pipe without verifying solvent compatibility and code allowance.
