The MUELLER INDUSTRIES 15791 is a wrot copper 45-degree elbow fitting designed for sweat-connect copper piping systems. It joins two lengths of 3/8-inch copper tubing at a 45-degree angle using a copper-to-copper (C x C) end connection on both sides. Wrot copper construction provides higher pressure tolerance and tighter dimensional consistency than cast fittings, making it a preferred choice for plumbers and mechanical contractors working on water distribution, refrigeration lines, and HVAC condensate or refrigerant piping. The fitting is soldered in place following standard sweat-joint procedure.
This fitting is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing and mechanical applications where a 45-degree directional change is required in a 3/8-inch copper line. Typical install scenarios include branch offsets in domestic water supply lines, HVAC copper refrigerant tubing runs, and hydronic piping systems. The C x C configuration requires the installer to clean, flux, and solder both socket ends to the copper tubing. Sold in a package quantity of 5.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use fitting compatible with 3/8-inch nominal copper tubing in C x C sweat-joint applications per ASTM and ASME B16.22 wrot copper fitting standards.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified mechanical contractor. Shut off and depressurize the water or fluid line before cutting into existing piping. Clean both the tubing ends and fitting sockets with emery cloth, apply appropriate flux, and solder using a lead-free solder in compliance with applicable local plumbing codes and the IPC. Avoid overheating the fitting during soldering, as excessive heat can compromise the joint integrity.
