The MUELLER INDUSTRIES 15769 is a wrot copper concentric pipe reducer fitting used to transition between a 1-1/2 inch and a 1 inch copper pipe line. Wrot copper is wrought from solid copper stock, producing a denser, stronger fitting with tighter dimensional tolerances than cast alternatives. The sweat-connect ends — copper-to-copper (C x C) — allow the fitting to be soldered directly into a copper piping system using standard brazing or 95/5 solder techniques. This fitting is installed by licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians in potable water, hydronic heating, cooling, and general mechanical piping applications.
This reducer is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing and mechanical systems where a pipe size reduction from 1-1/2 inch to 1 inch copper is required inline. Common install scenarios include branch reductions in domestic hot and cold water supply lines, hydronic distribution headers, and chilled water piping. The outside diameters measure 1-5/8 inches on the larger end and 1-1/8 inches on the smaller end. The fitting is sold in a package quantity of two.
Designed as an OEM-style drop-in replacement and standard-use fitting for copper piping systems using Type K, L, or M copper tube in 1-1/2 inch and 1 inch nominal sizes with sweat-connect (C x C) joints.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified mechanical contractor in accordance with local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off and drain the water supply completely before cutting into any existing line. Clean and flux all mating surfaces prior to soldering, and allow the joint to cool fully before restoring system pressure. Do not use open flame near combustible materials or insulation during the soldering process.
