The MUELLER INDUSTRIES 15761 is a wrot copper reducing coupling designed to transition from 3/4-inch to 1/2-inch copper tubing in sweat-soldered piping systems. Wrot copper fittings are formed from wrought copper, giving them a finer grain structure and greater strength compared to cast fittings. The C x C end connections accept standard copper tubing on both ends for flame-soldered or torch-brazed joints. This fitting is installed by licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians in residential and light commercial water supply, refrigerant piping, and hydronic heating systems where a reduction in line size is required.
This reducer is suited for potable water supply lines, domestic hot and cold distribution, and HVAC refrigerant or hydronic tubing where a 3/4-inch main must step down to a 1/2-inch branch or terminal connection. The C x C configuration requires standard copper tube preparation including cutting, deburring, flux application, and soldering or brazing per applicable codes. Sold in a package quantity of five, this fitting is appropriate for service contractors and plumbing wholesalers stocking common transition sizes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-use fitting compatible with standard 3/4-inch x 1/2-inch wrot copper C x C sweat connections in residential and light commercial plumbing and HVAC piping systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or HVAC technician in accordance with the applicable plumbing code, including IPC and local amendments. Shut off and drain the water supply or isolate the refrigerant circuit before cutting into an existing line. Tube ends must be cut square, deburred, and cleaned before flux is applied; soldering or brazing must be completed per ASTM B828 and local code requirements. Do not apply flame directly to flux or allow flux residue to remain in potable water lines without flushing after joining.
