The MUELLER INDUSTRIES 15704 is a wrot copper flush bushing designed to reduce pipe size within a copper piping system. It connects using a fitting-end to copper-sweat (FTG x C) joint configuration, allowing the bushing to seat flush inside a fitting socket rather than extending beyond it. At 1-1/2 inches by 1-1/4 inches, it steps down one nominal pipe size. Wrot copper construction ensures pressure-rated, corrosion-resistant performance suited for potable water, hydronic heating, and mechanical piping systems. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the typical installers for this type of fitting.
This flush bushing is used in residential and light commercial plumbing and hydronic systems where a compact, in-line size reduction is needed. The flush design keeps the fitting profile low, making it well suited for tight spaces or back-to-back fitting assemblies. It is sold in a package quantity of two, with a minimum order quantity of one package.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use fitting for copper piping systems requiring a 1-1/2 inches to 1-1/4 inches nominal size reduction with FTG x C end connections.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter following applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the water or fluid system and allow all piping to cool completely before soldering. Clean and flux all mating surfaces per standard sweat-joining practice before applying heat. Do not overheat wrot copper fittings, as excessive heat can damage the material and compromise joint integrity.
