The MUELLER INDUSTRIES 15699 is a wrot copper flush bushing designed to reduce a 1-inch fitting socket to a 3/4-inch copper tube connection in a single compact fitting. The end connection is FTG x C, meaning the larger end accepts a copper fitting OD and the smaller end accepts standard copper tube for soldering. With an outside diameter of 1-1/8 inches on the larger end and 7/8 inch on the smaller end, this bushing sits flush inside the adjoining fitting rather than extending beyond it. It is used by licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians in copper piping systems requiring a close-coupled, low-profile transition between two pipe sizes.
This flush bushing is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing and hydronic systems where space is limited and a standard hex bushing would create unwanted clearance issues. The FTG x C configuration allows it to be inserted directly into a socket-end fitting on one side while receiving copper tube on the other, making it a reliable choice for tight-access transitions in supply lines, branch connections, and mechanical room piping assemblies.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for standard wrot copper piping systems using 1-inch to 3/4-inch reductions with FTG x C end connections.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or HVAC pipefitter following applicable IPC and IFGC guidelines for copper sweat joints. Shut off and depressurize the system and drain standing water from the line before soldering. Clean all mating surfaces with emery cloth and apply lead-free flux before applying heat to ensure a full, void-free solder joint. Do not overheat the fitting, as wrot copper can absorb excess heat that may affect adjacent components or joint integrity.
