The MUELLER INDUSTRIES 15697 is a wrot copper 90-degree reducer elbow designed for sweat-connection plumbing and HVAC piping systems. It transitions from a 3/4-inch fitting (FTG) end to a 1/2-inch copper (C) end, allowing direction changes and size reductions in a single fitting. Wrot copper construction provides excellent pressure ratings, corrosion resistance, and reliable soldered joints. This fitting is installed by licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians wherever a 90-degree turn and a pipe reduction are needed in the same connection point, eliminating the need for a separate reducer coupling.
This reducer elbow is suited for residential and light commercial potable water, hydronic heating, and refrigerant piping applications. The FTG x C end configuration means the fitting outlet accepts a standard copper tube for soldering while the inlet slips over tubing like a standard fitting. It is commonly used when transitioning branch lines from a 3/4-inch main to 1/2-inch supply runs at fixture drops or coil connections.
Designed as an OEM-style sweat fitting for use in standard copper piping systems requiring a 90-degree change in direction combined with a reduction from 3/4-inch to 1/2-inch pipe size.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or HVAC technician in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and ASME B16.22 standards for wrought copper fittings. Shut off and depressurize the water or refrigerant system and allow all lines to cool completely before cutting or fitting. Clean all pipe ends and fitting sockets with emery cloth and apply flux before soldering or brazing. Do not apply excessive heat to the fitting body, as overheating can degrade the joint integrity of wrot copper sweat connections.
