The MUELLER INDUSTRIES 15689 is a wrot copper 90-degree reducer elbow designed for sweat-solder connections in residential and light commercial plumbing and HVAC refrigerant piping systems. This fitting transitions from a 3/8-inch to a 1/4-inch line using a FTG (fitting) inlet on the larger end and a C (cup) socket on the smaller end. Wrot copper construction provides consistent wall thickness, excellent corrosion resistance, and reliable pressure performance throughout the joint. Plumbers, HVAC technicians, and refrigeration mechanics use this elbow wherever a directional change and pipe size reduction are needed in a single fitting.
This reducer elbow is suited for potable water distribution, hydronic heating lines, drain and vent applications where copper is specified, and refrigerant line sets requiring a 90-degree change in direction with a simultaneous size step-down. The FTG x C end configuration allows it to slide directly over copper tubing on the cup end and into another fitting socket on the FTG end, making it practical for tight manifold and coil connections. It is sold in a package quantity of five units.
Designed as an OEM-style sweat-solder replacement fitting for copper piping systems requiring a 90-degree reducer elbow in 3/8-inch x 1/4-inch FTG x C configuration.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or HVAC technicians following applicable IPC and IFGC code requirements for brazed or soldered copper joints. Shut off and depressurize the water or refrigerant line completely before cutting into the system. Clean both the tube end and fitting socket with emery cloth and apply appropriate flux before soldering or brazing. Do not overheat the fitting, as excessive heat can damage the joint integrity of wrot copper fittings.
