The MUELLER INDUSTRIES 15680 is a wrot copper flush bushing used to reduce a 1/2 inch fitting socket to a 3/8 inch copper tube connection. The FTG x C end configuration accepts a fitting on the larger end and a sweat-soldered copper tube on the smaller end, making it a standard component in copper piping assemblies. This bushing sits flush within the fitting it connects to, keeping the transition compact and low-profile. Licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians use flush bushings like this one when stepping down pipe size within a tight space or inside an existing fitting socket. Sold in packages of 10.
This fitting is appropriate for residential and light commercial plumbing, hydronic heating, refrigeration piping, and HVAC refrigerant line applications where copper sweat connections are specified. The 1/2 inch x 3/8 inch size is one of the most common reduction configurations encountered in both new construction rough-in and service replacement work. Because it is wrot copper rather than cast, it is suitable for use in systems requiring higher pressure integrity and a cleaner grain structure at the joint.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting compatible with standard wrot copper sweat fitting systems using 1/2 inch and 3/8 inch copper tube per ASTM B88 specifications.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or HVAC technician using standard copper sweat soldering procedures. Shut off and depressurize the system and purge all water or refrigerant from the line before cutting or joining. Clean all mating surfaces with emery cloth and apply flux per the solder manufacturer instructions before applying heat. Follow applicable local plumbing code and IFGC or IPC requirements for the system type being serviced.
