The MUELLER INDUSTRIES 15645 is a wrot copper pipe adapter designed to connect copper tube to female-threaded fittings in plumbing, HVAC, and refrigeration piping systems. The sweat-by-female-thread (C x F) end configuration allows the male sweat end to be soldered directly to copper tubing while the female-threaded end accepts a male-threaded fitting or valve. Sized at 3/8 inch by 1/4 inch, this adapter is used where a transition between two different pipe sizes or connection types is required. Wrot copper construction provides reliable, pressure-rated performance suitable for potable water, refrigerant, and hydronic applications.
This adapter is used in residential and light commercial installations where copper tubing must terminate at a threaded connection point. Typical applications include connecting copper supply lines to valves, gauges, manifolds, or threaded fittings in plumbing rough-in, HVAC refrigerant circuits, and radiant or hydronic systems. Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-use fitting compatible with standard copper tubing systems requiring a sweat-to-female-thread transition at 3/8 inch by 1/4 inch sizing.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified HVAC technician in accordance with applicable IPC or IFGC requirements. Shut off and depressurize the supply line before cutting or fitting. Clean and flux both mating surfaces before soldering or brazing the sweat end; apply thread sealant to the female-threaded connection per the fitting manufacturer and local code requirements. Do not overtighten threaded connections, as wrot copper fittings can crack under excessive torque.
