The MUELLER INDUSTRIES 116-513 is a one-piece forged brass gas ball valve designed for shutoff and flow control in gas and plumbing distribution lines. The one-piece body construction minimizes potential leak paths and extends service life compared to multi-piece designs. The valve features a 1/2-inch female flare inlet and a 1/2-inch male iron pipe outlet, making it suitable for connections in residential and light commercial gas piping systems. A yellow handle provides immediate visual identification as a gas-service component and allows for quick quarter-turn operation. Licensed plumbers and gas fitters install this valve as part of appliance supply lines and main distribution branches.
The 116-513 is rated for use with natural gas, LP gas, and oil, and is also suitable for traditional plumbing applications. The quarter-turn ball valve design allows for fast shutoff in service and emergency scenarios. Its forged brass construction resists corrosion in typical indoor gas piping environments. This valve is commonly installed on residential appliance drops, furnace supply lines, water heater connections, and similar light commercial applications where a reliable, code-compliant shutoff is required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation shutoff valve for residential and light commercial gas piping systems requiring a 1/2-inch FL x 1/2-inch MIP connection in natural gas, LP gas, or oil service.
Installation must be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified gas fitter in accordance with local codes and the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC). Shut off the upstream gas supply and verify zero pressure before removing or installing any valve. Apply listed pipe thread sealant or tape to male iron pipe threads only — never apply sealant to flare fittings. Pressure-test all connections after installation before restoring gas flow.
