The MR PEX 1320030 is a 1/2-inch PEX-AL-PEX composite tubing supplied in a 300-foot orange coil, engineered for closed-loop radiant heating systems. The construction bonds an aluminum layer between two cross-linked polyethylene layers, creating an oxygen barrier that inhibits oxygen diffusion into the system and prevents corrosion of ferrous components such as boiler heat exchangers and circulators. Rated to 160 psi at 200 degrees F by the Hydrostatic Stress Board of the Plastics Pipe Institute (PPI) under ASTM F1281-2005 and CSA B137.10, this tubing is certified NSF-pw and NSF-rfh, and complies with chlorine resistance test method ASTM F2023. It carries both the cNSF and cNSFus marks.
This tubing is intended for residential and light commercial radiant floor heating, radiant wall and ceiling panel systems, and hydronic distribution runs where an oxygen barrier is required. Its aluminum core allows the tubing to hold its bent shape without a support fitting, simplifying layout in staple-up, sleeper, and above-floor radiant installations. The orange color coding identifies it as a heating-circuit supply or return run at a glance during rough-in and service. Compatible fitting systems include push-fit, crimp, PEX compression, expansion PEX, clamp, and PEX press connections, giving installers flexibility across different fitting inventories.
Compatible fitting systems include push-fit, crimp, PEX compression, expansion PEX, clamp, and PEX press connections. Designed as an oxygen-barrier radiant heating tubing suitable for closed-loop hydronic systems where corrosion protection of ferrous components is required.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or hydronic heating technician in accordance with applicable mechanical and plumbing codes, including ASHRAE and local authority requirements. Shut down and depressurize the hydronic system and allow it to cool before making connections or modifications. Use only fittings and tools rated and sized for 1/2-inch PEX-AL-PEX composite tubing, as standard PEX-only tooling may not seat correctly against the aluminum layer. Avoid kinking; the tubing holds a bent shape but sharp bends can compromise the aluminum layer and the pressure rating.
