The MORRIS PRODUCTS S-15 is a Type S heavy-duty, dual-element time delay plug fuse rated at 15 amps and 125 volts AC with a 10 kiloampere interrupting rating. It uses a rejection base design that threads into Type SA adaptors, making it non-interchangeable with standard Edison-base fuses. The dual-element, spring-loaded construction provides superior protection against both short-circuit faults and sustained overloads. Electricians and electrical contractors install this fuse in residential loadcenters and panelboards where reliable overcurrent protection is required for motor circuits and frequently cycling loads.
This fuse is suited for residential loadcenter applications and is particularly effective for protecting critical motor circuits or motors that start and stop frequently. The extended time-delay characteristic allows motors to pull inrush current at startup without nuisance blowing, while still providing fast response to a true fault condition. Its industrial and commercial grade dual-element construction offers a higher level of time-delay protection than medium-duty Type S fuses, making it a strong choice in both residential and light commercial service environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement Type S plug fuse for use in residential loadcenters equipped with Type SA rejection-base adaptors. Compatible with standard 125-volt AC fuse panels that accept Type S rejection base fuses.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NFPA 70 (NEC) requirements. Always de-energize and lock out the panel before replacing fuses. Verify that the replacement fuse current rating matches the circuit requirement before installing. Type S fuses require a Type SA adaptor to be installed in the Edison-base socket prior to first use; the rejection base prevents insertion of a fuse with a higher ampere rating.
