The MORRIS PRODUCTS 90420 is a dual-rated split bolt connector with spacer, designed for joining copper and aluminum conductors at the 2/0 AWG size. The spacer keeps dissimilar metals from making direct contact, which is required when connecting copper to aluminum to prevent galvanic corrosion. Electricians use this connector for tap and splice applications in service entrance work, feeder runs, and branch circuit terminations where mixed conductor materials are present. The split bolt design allows a wrench-tightened mechanical connection without soldering.
This connector is suited for residential and commercial electrical installations where 2/0 AWG copper or aluminum conductors need to be joined or tapped. Typical applications include service entrance splices, panelboard feeder taps, and utility connection points. The dual-rated construction means a single connector handles either conductor material, reducing the need to stock separate copper-only and aluminum-only connectors on a service truck.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for the NSI N20SP split bolt connector with spacer. Compatible with 2/0 AWG copper and aluminum conductors in standard split bolt tap and splice applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC Article 110 and applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit before making any conductor connections. Use an appropriately sized wrench to torque the bolt — do not use impact tools, which can crack the connector body. When connecting aluminum conductors, apply an antioxidant compound to the conductor before assembly per standard aluminum wiring practice.
