The MODINE ptc85as0111fban is a separated combustion propeller-fan unit heater designed for natural gas service and rated at 85,000 BTU/h input. It operates on 115 volts and features an aluminized steel heat exchanger, making it suited for environments where corrosion resistance and durability matter. A finger-proof fan guard is included as a standard safety feature. This type of unit heater is typically installed by licensed HVAC technicians in commercial or industrial spaces that require high-output, forced-air heat sourced from outside combustion air rather than the conditioned space.
Separated combustion unit heaters draw combustion air directly from outside the building through a dedicated inlet pipe and exhaust flue gases through a separate vent, isolating the burner assembly from the building interior. This design makes the ptc85as0111fban well suited for garages, warehouses, manufacturing facilities, agricultural buildings, and other large commercial or light industrial spaces where indoor air quality or negative pressure concerns make conventional unit heaters impractical. The propeller fan provides high-volume airflow for efficient heat distribution across open floor plans.
Designed as an OEM-specification separated combustion propeller-fan unit heater for commercial and industrial heating applications requiring natural gas fuel and 115 volt electrical service.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with the manufacturer instructions, local mechanical codes, and IFGC requirements for gas-fired unit heaters. Shut off the gas supply and disconnect electrical power before servicing or replacing any components. The separated combustion inlet and exhaust vent piping must be routed and terminated per the manufacturer specifications and local codes to ensure proper draft and safe flue gas discharge. Electrical connections should comply with NEC requirements for the equipment nameplate voltage and amperage ratings.
