The MODINE hds30as0111fcan is a separated combustion propeller-style unit heater rated at 30,000 BTU input and 24,000 BTU output, designed for natural gas operation. It uses direct spark ignition and runs on 115 volts, 60 hertz, single-phase power. The aluminized steel heat exchanger delivers reliable thermal transfer in environments where combustion air must be drawn from outside the conditioned space. Single-stage heating keeps the control sequence straightforward. Licensed HVAC technicians and mechanical contractors typically specify and install this unit in enclosed, semi-conditioned spaces where separated combustion is required by code or application.
This unit heater is sized for 1 to 1-1/2 car garage heating applications. The separated combustion design isolates the burner and heat exchanger from the space air, making it appropriate where indoor air quality or negative-pressure concerns apply. With an entering airflow of 505 CFM at 70 degrees F and an air temperature rise of 44 degrees F, it delivers steady, distributed heat without requiring a ducted distribution system. Maximum mounting height is 10 feet, keeping the unit within the effective throw range of the propeller fan.
Designed as an OEM-style unit heater for residential and light-commercial separated combustion applications, specifically sized for 1 to 1-1/2 car garage installations with a maximum mounting height of 10 feet.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC or mechanical contractor in accordance with ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54 for gas appliances and all applicable local mechanical codes. Shut off the gas supply and disconnect electrical power before servicing or mounting the unit. The separated combustion venting system requires both an intake and exhaust pipe run to the exterior; follow the manufacturer venting instructions for proper pipe sizing and termination clearances. Confirm that the 115-volt, single-phase circuit is properly fused and grounded before energizing the unit.
