The MK MORSE mhsg16 is a carbide grit hole saw designed for cutting masonry, tile, and other hard or abrasive materials where toothed bi-metal saws are not suitable. The 1-inch saw diameter and 1-7/8-inch maximum cutting depth make it well suited for through-cuts in moderate-thickness materials. The 1/2-20 threaded arbor mount accepts a separately sourced arbor, giving the installer flexibility to match the saw to a specific drill or driver and to select the desired pilot hole size. Carbide grit construction provides durability against materials that would rapidly degrade conventional steel teeth.
This hole saw is used in commercial and residential construction and remodeling applications where clean, accurate holes are required in hard or brittle surfaces. Typical applications include setting electrical boxes, pipe penetrations, and fixture cutouts through acoustic tile, ceramic tile, cement board, brick, cinderblock, cast iron, fiberglass, Formica, composites, and particle board. It is commonly installed by electricians, plumbers, tile setters, and general contractors working on renovation or new construction projects.
Designed for use with separately purchased arbors threaded at 1/2-20. Compatible arbor must accept a 1/4-inch pilot drill. Suitable for use in standard drill chucks; not rated for impact drivers or hammer drill mode.
A licensed tradesperson or experienced installer should select an arbor with the correct 1/2-20 thread and a pilot drill appropriate for the substrate before beginning the cut. Secure the workpiece and ensure the drill is set to standard rotary mode, not hammer mode, before engaging the saw. Eye protection and dust control measures are recommended when cutting masonry, cement board, or ceramics, as these materials generate fine particulate. Do not exceed the tool RPM rating appropriate for the saw diameter when operating in dense or brittle materials.
