The MITUTOYO 64AAA227 is a thread pitch diameter measuring wire designed for precise thread measurement using the three-wire method. This wire set enables machinists and metrologists to accurately determine the pitch diameter of external threads by measuring across three wires placed in thread grooves. The nominal best wire diameter is 0.0502 inches, calibrated for 11.5 TPI threads with a 0.087 inch pitch. Each wire is 2.25 inches long, providing sufficient length for stable seating during measurement. The nominal constant for this wire set is 0.0753 inches, used directly in pitch diameter calculations.
This wire set is suited for use in precision machining, quality control, and inspection environments where thread pitch diameter verification is required. The three-wire method is widely used in tool rooms, gage labs, and production floor inspection stations. These wires are appropriate for measuring unified, standard, or similarly pitched external threads at 11.5 TPI. The set includes 3 wires, allowing simultaneous placement across a thread for micrometer-based measurement.
