The MITUTOYO 575-122 is an electronic drop indicator designed for precision dimensional measurement in machining, inspection, and quality-control environments. It delivers a measurement range of 0 to 1 inch with a resolution of 0.0005 inches and an accuracy of 0.0008 inches. Readings display on a built-in LCD in both inch and metric units, making it practical for shops that work in either system. The flat back mounting style suits standard indicator holders, magnetic bases, and surface-plate setups. The unit ships with an SR44 battery installed and is rated IP42 for protection against solid particle ingress and limited water splash.
This indicator is used in tool-and-die shops, machine shops, and metrology labs for runout checks, surface flatness verification, part height comparison, and fixture alignment. It fits standard 8 mm stem holders, allowing it to drop into most dial indicator arms and adjustable holders already in service. The inch and metric dual-display capability makes it well suited for shops running both imperial and metric programs on the same equipment.
Designed as an OEM-style drop indicator for use with standard 8 mm stem holders, magnetic indicator bases, and adjustable indicator arms common in machine shop and inspection environments. Part of the MITUTOYO Series 575 indicator line.
Installation is performed by metrology technicians or machinist-level personnel familiar with indicator mounting. Secure the 8 mm stem firmly in the holder to eliminate play before zeroing the instrument. Avoid side-loading the stem during measurement, as lateral force can affect accuracy and shorten spindle service life. When not in use, store the indicator with the spindle in a relaxed, unloaded position to preserve spring tension.
