The MITUTOYO 570-244 is a digital electronic height gage designed for precision layout and measurement work on surface plates. It measures up to 8 inches with a resolution of 0.0005 inches and a linear accuracy of 0.001 inches, making it suitable for exacting inspection and scribing tasks in tool rooms, machine shops, and calibration labs. The large LCD display provides a clear reading in both inch and millimeter modes. A built-in SPC data output port allows direct connection to statistical process control software or data loggers. The unit ships with a scriber and one SR44 battery installed.
This height gage is intended for metrology and quality control applications in manufacturing environments. It suits machinists, quality technicians, and toolmakers who need reliable, repeatable height measurements during inspection or layout operations. The inclined slider handle and coarse/fine feeding switch allow controlled, precise stylus positioning. The ABS/INC switching function supports both absolute and incremental measurement modes, useful when establishing reference points or measuring step heights across a workpiece.
Designed for use as a standard electronic height gage on granite or cast iron surface plates in tool room and inspection environments.
Setup and operation should be performed by a qualified metrology technician or machinist familiar with surface plate measurement practices. Before use, verify the surface plate is clean and level, and allow the gage to acclimate to the ambient temperature of the measurement environment to minimize thermal expansion errors. Do not force the slider mechanism; use the coarse/fine feed controls for all final positioning. Replace the SR44 battery when the low-battery indicator appears to maintain measurement integrity.
