The MITUTOYO 513-404-10H is a horizontal-style dial test indicator designed for precise surface and runout measurements in machining, inspection, and quality control applications. It offers a maximum measurement range of 0.8 mm with a dial graduation of 0.01 mm and an accuracy of 8 micrometers. The indicator features a jeweled bearing for smooth, repeatable needle movement and a no-clutch structure for reliable automatic reversal at travel limits. The glare-free, scratch-resistant crystal over a yellow dial makes readings easy in shop-floor lighting conditions. Licensed metrologists, machinists, and quality technicians are the typical users.
This indicator is suited for use on surface plates, magnetic bases, and machine tool setups in both production and tool room environments. Its horizontal orientation makes it well suited for reaching into confined spaces on fixtures and workholding setups. The dust- and oil-proof construction with O-ring seals allows reliable use in typical machine shop environments where coolant and particulate exposure are common. The unit ships complete with a contact point, dial indicator body, knurled clamp ring, and stem, allowing immediate setup on arrival.
Designed as a standard horizontal dial test indicator within the Mitutoyo 513 Series. Compatible with standard dovetail and stem-mount indicator holders. Includes one contact point with a 20.9 mm length and a 0.08 inch ball diameter for direct use on installation.
Installation is performed by machinists, metrologists, or quality control technicians using a magnetic base or indicator holder with a compatible stem clamp. Secure the stem firmly in the clamp before zeroing the indicator to prevent measurement drift. Avoid side-loading the contact point beyond the rated travel range, as this can damage the jeweled bearing assembly. No electrical power or special tools are required for mounting.
