The MITUTOYO 513-402-10T is a horizontal dial test indicator designed for high-precision measurement in machining, inspection, and metrology applications. It covers a range of 0 to 0.03 inches with a graduation of 0.0005 inches, making it suitable for tight-tolerance work where small deviations must be detected quickly and reliably. The indicator features a 40mm white dial with a 0-15-0 balanced scale for easy reading in both deflection directions. Jeweled bearings reduce friction and support long-term repeatability. A no-clutch structure and automatic reversal mechanism allow smooth bidirectional stylus travel without manual adjustment.
This indicator is used in machine shop environments, quality control labs, and tool-and-die operations. It is commonly mounted on magnetic bases, surface plates, or transfer setups to check runout, flatness, parallelism, and part-to-part variation. Two contact points are included, expanding compatibility with different stylus configurations. Carbide-tipped contact points provide wear resistance under repeated use. The dust- and oil-proof construction with O-ring seals makes it appropriate for shop-floor use near coolants and particulates.
Designed as an OEM-style precision instrument compatible with standard dovetail-style indicator holders, magnetic bases, and transfer fixture setups commonly used in machining and inspection environments.
Installation is typically performed by machinists, metrologists, or quality technicians using a dovetail clamp or stem-type holder. Ensure the indicator stem is securely clamped and the stylus is oriented correctly relative to the measurement axis before zeroing. Do not overtighten clamping hardware, as this can distort the indicator body and affect accuracy. Handle the contact tip and spindle carefully to avoid impact damage to the jeweled bearing assembly.
